Bishop Mike will begin his sabbatical on Friday, June 15. He will return on September 17. E-mails sent to msigman@eccenter.com will not be received by him until September. If you have inquiries or concerns that would normally be directed to the Bishop, direct them to Jodi Earhart at jearhart@eccenter.com. A team of EC leaders will assume the Bishop's responsibilities during this sabbatical period. Jodi will review and forward your e-mail to the right person for a reply. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
Prayer and Update
1. Pastor Bill Weiser of Bethany, Pleasantville, was admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital, room 1001 in Reading. The details are unclear through the prayer chain. He’s been having vascular problems in his legs AND sores on the bottom of his feet that are very painful. He just keeps going for his family and his church, sometimes neglecting his own health sometimes, so please pray that the doctors will be able to get to the bottom of his problem(s) and bring relief to his constant pain. Also pray that a perfect donor match will be found for a kidney transplant.
2. Dear Friends,
On Wednesday, May 30, I took Shirley to the hospital for another transfusion of “packed cells” due to the level of her hemoglobin. She felt well enough on Friday to attend the National Conference with me, which was a delight. She has really appreciated the widespread prayer support and love shown by so many. Last week, she had a consultation with a specialist in nutrition, to see if there were herbal treatments which might be able to correct the problem. The oncologist also put her on a daily regimen of heavy doses of steroids (Prednisone). These have given her much more energy, but she is also shaking and experiencing other side effects of such treatment. On Thursday, her blood levels will be checked again, to see what is happening. Typically, she has had a good week following the transfusions, and then experienced a steady decline during the next week, followed by another transfusion. We are hoping and praying that something will change this pattern. The results of all the studies have shown there is no viral basis for the anemia, nor is there leukemia. But the cause is a mystery. Thank you for your prayers and concern.
God bless you, John P. Ragsdale
God has done what doctors could not do. Saturday and Sunday morning Bruce’s blood work came back indicating that all blood levels are slowly rising. As of last night his hemoglobin was 10.6! God is good! Thanks to all in the community of believers who have lifted Bruce before God’s throne of grace and mercy. Continue to do so. We will keep you updated.
